Peregrination To Liktinon River

The HRgroup in Boracay Island was originally planned to visit Roxas City for a movie, food trips and road trip. But upon discovering a short video of Liktinon Rivers awesome big white rock formation, the clear waters that is relaxing in the eyes which ultimately changes our minds. Instead, we decided to wrapped up things and consider visiting Madalag. Philippines is truly an amazing place on Earth and Aklan should be counted on top! But wait, I think Madalag has a lot to offer.

There are 25 Barangay in Madalag and these are the following:
  • Alaminos
  • Alas-as
  • Bacyang
  • Balactasan
  • Cabangahan
  • Cabilawan
  • Catabana
  • Dit-Ana
  • Galicia
  • Guinatu-an
  • Logohon
  • Mamba
  • Maria Cristina
  • Medina
  • Mercedes
  • Napnot
  • Pang-Itan
  • Paningayan
  • Panipiason
  • Poblacion
  • San Jose
  • Singay
  • Talangban
  • Talimagao
  • Tigbawan

Liktinon River can be found in the Municipality of Madalag, Aklan. Madalag is a fourth class municipality, about 45 minutes away from the town of Kalibo. From Boracay, as we are trying not to be a typical "Filipino Time Citizens" at exactly 5AM we departed from each of our accommodations. Around 6:03AM we arrived in the Tabon port where the Van waited for us. We rented a Van (one-way)for 1,500.00 Caticlan-Madalag. So if you are 10 in group, or even at least 8 this is a very good price.

The Tourism Officer Francisco "Escot" Entila greeted us at the Municipal Hall then a short meet and greet with the town Mayor in his house and handed us "Marang, Coconut Candy and Rambutan". We begun our 30-40 minutes Habal-habal ride. It was a risky ride since 90% of the road trip was so rough that anytime the habal-habal (motorcylce) might slip due to rocks all over the roads and the road is i think a 50 degree inclined. So hold on your dear, embrace your driver :). Parts of the group where in the van so they arrived 20 minutes late because they stopped somewhere else for a photo opt.

Madalagnon generously greeted us in the entrance area where you need to register and drop your monetary donations. We were guided by Kuya Elmer. A very nice guy who has all the knowledge in giving info's about the River and The Madalag.

Then the non stop pictorial goes on....... enjoy the pictures guys. And visit Liktinon River.

According to Escot, the blue-painted church was built in 1760 but was heavily renovated in the 1970s by the parish priest, thereby losing its old-world charm.
Amazing

Right after our Madalag River trip. We headed toward tagbak. A place in New Washington where cheap Oyster is being sold. For only 100.00 you can have 4 kilo of Oyster. Early Dinner for the group before going back to Boracay.

Busog na sila sa talaba.

Madame Jo is i think not looking on MJ's tummy... talaba pa more mj

I thank You Superfriend for giving us the oppurtunity to visit and had a relaxing day with your work. Its totally an amazing experience. Thank you for a super good weather all along our adventure. Kulang ang time eh. Masarap pa sana mag babad sa malamig na tubig.

Was there a MISCOMMUNICATION?

Before we arrive in Madalag Escot was offering us a habal-habal ride for 300 pesos per head from and to towns proper.  We contacted Escot to cancel the habal habal since our van will drop us in the gates of the Liktinon River. However, as a way of generosity we will still rode and pay the 300 pesos habal habal ride.

When we were in the town proper we gave them 300 pesos each driver and some of my group even gave additional as TIP. Unfortunately when the rest of the group arrived, they told us that some of the drivers are insisting that they should be paid as much as 600 pesos per head.

For God's sake 600 pesos?

Just to be fair to them as they have said that they stayed and waited us until we depart. We didn't even know that they would stay. Well maybe we were that special tourist and given that we were a group of Managers from different Boracay REsorts and Hotels so they opted to stay. Gracias! For almost 5 hours they earned 600 pesos, not bad.

Suggestion to the Madalag Tourism Office and Municipal Council Headed by The Mayor.

Liktinon River is so amazing. We really appreciate the virgin beauty of this nature. We even drunk water from "Suba".

HRgroup in Boracay saw this tourism to boost. Maybe the Municipal Council will enact a law that creating a fair tariff rate to all tourists. Maybe a 150.00 pesos entrance fee to all non Madalagnon citizen. This will help finance the implementation of the cities tourism plans, maintenance of the cleanliness of the river by purchasing a garbage bin. Hire more tour guides, 1 guide for every 10 tourist, maybe like that.

Travel Now and Experience the Beauty of Liktinon River

Now if you are planning to visit Madalags beauty please contact the Tourism Officer Francisco "Escot Entila at +63 9214-885-954. Book now your next adventure in Madalag.

ADDENDUM

The motorcycle ride is really 600.00 from town proper to Brgy. Maria Cristina and vice versa. Maximum of 2 passenger per motorcycle which means 300.00 per head. Now if you want to "solo" the driver then you still have to pay 600.00.

Don' count how much you spent on habal habal, its just a matter of money. You will earn it the other day. What you must instill in you heart and mind is the adventure that you will experience. Don't be fooled on James Reid commercial because you will only found true love and peace with Nature. And you will never regret by visiting the beauty of Liktinon River.

Next Stop?

Still in Madalag. Watch out for more adventure.
